My parents immigrated to the United States to give me the best opportunity possible to succeed. It wasn’t easy living with other families in the same household. It wasn’t easy being picked on for having old clothes.
The opportunities to play sports in leagues and go to camps or have private coaches was non existent. My parents didn’t have time and even if they did food, clothing, and housing was priority.
In high school I had to work at a car wash every weekend for 12-15 hour days so that I could pay for the costs of playing on the high school team. I was also naive and ignorant to how the works worked. My parents did not know any better and could only teach me what they knew.
I was able to do well enough academically to get Pell Grants and I was good enough in baseball to get an athletic scholarship. In college I worked two jobs while in school. I was able to win Athlete of the Year and Work Study of the year.
I went to Florida International University and graduated as an engineer. While an engineer I took on several several entrepreneurial opportunities because I knew I wanted to do more. I had a bigger vision and purpose. I went out of my comfort zone competing in bodybuilding shows without breaking a sweat.
I’ve earned everything I have. I don’t like saying I’ve failed. But I’ve tried succeeding so many times that starting up Máquina Strength has been the easiest decision I have ever made. I am ready to soar and fulfill my potential.
